THE REGGAE ANGELS – AVAILABLE FOR FESTIVALS

The Reggae Angels – the messengers - based in Oakland, CA are available for festivals and spot dates. The Reggae Angels work consists of guidance for themselves and others towards righteous living - proverbial words and music to live by.

October, 2011 they performed on the Evolution Reggae Festival in Humboldt CA and last February they performed on the Raggamuffins Festival at the Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA. June 2010 they performed on the Reggae on the River festival in Northern California, and they also recently performed at the Music and Arts Festival in Humboldt County, CA and on the Berkeley Earthday. They have also recently done club dates at Ashkenaz in Berkeley, CA and numerous shows at the Independent, a top venue in San Francisco. Their show in May 2010 with the Reggae Angels and Don Carlos in Nairobi Kenya at the Kasarani Sports Grounds was well received and made history with a record crowd of 110,000 people.

The Reggae Angels most recent tours were three different tours co-billing and backing Warrior King and Junior Reid in 2009, and Anthony B in January 2010. August 2008 they performed in Europe on most of the major festivals. On the 2008 Reggae Rising festival, they performed prime time Saturday night with Sly and Robbie on bass and drums. The Reggae Angels have toured in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Canada and Hawaii.

Within the last decade, the Reggae Angels have completed a 50-city U.S. tour backing and co-billing with Andrew Tosh (son of Reggae icon Peter Tosh), eight tours backing and co-billing with Junior Reid, two tours with the Abyssinians, two tours with Sugar Minott, a 9-week North America and Canada tour with Everton Blender, two western U.S. tours with Warrior King, three U.S. tours with Anthony B, and numerous Hawaii tours with Sugar Minott, Everton Blender, Junior Reid and Frankie Paul. Previous to that, the Reggae Angels backed and co-billed with Don Carlos for four years in North and South America and Hawaii. The Reggae Angels have also done numerous tours on their own.

The Reggae Angels sing the universal message of love, unity and wisdom. They are well known, loved and appreciated. Lyrically, their music is a guide toward improving one's character, affirming qualities such as gratitude, generosity, and hope.

The Reggae Angels have one of the most extensive discographies of any American Reggae band. Their tenth release - Make Blessings - on the Explorer Recordings Label- was an excellent album, popular worldwide. Their latest release, their eleventh album - Prophetic Mission - is also strong message music guiding to the prophetic ideal. Their organic recordings are full of diverse arrangements and musical changes. All their recordings have been mixed by top reggae engineers. They currently do their recording in their own stu dio in Oakland, CA called The Workshop.

REGGAE ANGELS BIOGRAPHY

Currently based in the San Francisco, CA East Bay, the Reggae Angels have been touring the last sixteen years in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Hawaii, and Canada. They are well loved and respected. Top international artists have had the Reggae Angels back them, including Don Carlos, Anthony B, Perfect, Richie Spice, Horace Andy, Michael Rose, Big Youth, The Abyssinians, Edi Fitzroy, Lutan Fyah, Carlton & The Shoes, Junior Murvin, Clinton Fearon, Everton Blender, Sugar Minott, Andrew Tosh, Shinehead, Junior Reid and Frankie Paul. The band has consistently met the needs of world-class artists, touring with them to the far reaches.

The Reggae Angels vocalists are Fenton Wardle, Cynthia Roots and Brady Shamar. Lead vocalist and bandleader Fenton Wardle started playing for the public at the age of twelve, playing his accordion in the streets in San Francisco. In 1982, Fenton fronted his first band Ily, in New Hampshire, where he attended Dartmouth College and graduated in 1984. In 1986 he formed a band on the West Coast called The Chosen Few. In 1989 the band re-grouped as The Elevations. Fenton sang lead and harmony vocals and played keyboards. With the Elevations, he produced two albums- Jah Guide and Good Judgment. In 1992 Fenton left the Elevations and started the Reggae Angels.

With the Reggae Angels, Fenton has produced Guard the Honor, Jealousy, Truth and Conviction, Spirit, Signs and Wonders, Which Road Will You Choose, Live Positive, Come To Jah, Save Our Souls, A Heart With Love, Balance, Make Blessings and Prophetic Mission. Augustus Pablo is featured playing melodica and synthesizer on the earlier works, adding his melodious far eastern sound. The early mixing was done in Jamaica with some of the top engineers there including Sylvan Morris, David Rowe, Soljie, Dr. Marshall and Hugh Palmer. Scientist mixed the next four CDs in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Balance, Make Blessings and Prophetic Mission were mixed at Lion and Fox recording studios, in Ale xandria, Virginia by Jim Fox. The Reggae Angels have one of the most prolific catalogues of any American based reggae band, including 11 CDs and numerous dubs.

Their focus is on clarifying the message of the prophets - advice and prayers to bring us closer to God. The Reggae Angels have their own recording studio in Oakland, California called The Workshop, where they help produce other artists as well as working on their own works.
