Currently based in the San Francisco, Calif. East Bay, The Reggae Angels play regularly around the greater S.F. Bay area, and have been touring the last eight years the western U.S. and Canada and Hawaii. They have also performed in South America. The Reggae Angels have played many festivals including Reggae on the River, The Roots Mountain Reggae Festival in northeastern Washington State, Reggae in the Park in San Francisco, Kauai Splash in Hawaii, The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival and many others. The Reggae Angels have backed many international artist including Don Carlos, Horace Andy, Michael Rose, Big Youth, The Abyssinians, Edi Fitzroy, Bernard Collins, Carlton & The Shoes, Junior Murvin, Clinton Fearon, Andrew Tosh and Junior Reid.
The Reggae Angels vocalists are Fenton Wardle and Cynthia Roots. Cynthia has her own CD titled - "Save Our Souls" (Kings Music International 2000) She is a message recording artist. Fenton, the lead vocalist and bandleader, took his accordion to the streets in San Francisco where he started playing for the public at the age of twelve. In 1986 Fenton formed a band on the West coast called The Chosen Few. In 1989 the band re-arranged and was called The Elevations. Fenton sang lead and harmony vocals, and played keyboards. With the Elevations he produced two albums - "Jah Guide" and "Good Judgment". In 1992 Fenton left the Elevations and started the Reggae Angels.
With the Reggae Angels Fenton has produced "Guard the Honor", "Jealousy", "Truth and Conviction", "Spirit, Signs and Wonders", "Which Road will you Choose", "Live Positive", "Come To Jah", "Save Our Souls", "A Heart With Love" and "Balance", along with six instrumental albums. Augustus Pablo is featured playing melodica and synthesizer on the earlier works adding his melodious far eastern sound. The early mixing was done in Jamaica with some of the foremost reggae engineers including Sylvan Morris, David Rowe, Soljie, Dr. Marshall and Hugh Palmer. Scientist mixed the next four albums in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. "Balance" was mixed at Lion and Fox recording studios by Jim Fox in July 2003 The Reggae Angels have one of the most proflific catalogues of any American based reggae band, including 12 CDs and numerous dubs. Their latest release "Balance" has been well received and a new project- "Make Blessings" - is near completion.
Fans of Reggae know The Angels deliver high energy performances with a happy uplifting sound and a deep sincere message. Their music speaks of God consciousness - beneficial truths for all humanity. The lyrics are condensed spiritual insight and teachings - the message. The Reggae Angels have their own recording studio in Oakland, California called The Workshop. Their focus is on spirituality, affirming and clarifying the message of the prophets - advice and prayers to bring us nearer to God.
